1986, The Nuclear Fiasco of Westinghouse in the Philippines

THE $2.2 BILLION NUCLEAR FIASCO Westinghouse's Philippine power plant is a management nightmare, and it isn't even running. The Aquino government charges that the company bribed Ferdinand Marcos and did sloppy work. It wants restitution. September 1, 1986 (FORTUNE Magazine) – THE FIRST NUCLEAR power plant in the Philippines sits on a verdant bluff overlooking the South China Sea, just off the road where U.S. soldiers marched to their death under the bayonets of Japanese captors in 1942. The location on the Bataan peninsula seems sadly appropriate for a project that has become a bitter commercial tragedy.
