Sozopol granted BGN 75 mln for the construction of water-treatment systems

Sozopol Municipality will be granted BGN 75 mln by the state for the construction of a water-treatment system. The contract for exceptional financial assistance was signed on Monday by Nona Karadjova, Minister of Environment and Water, and the Mayor of Sozopol Panayot Reyzi.

Building the system is one of the main priorities of Mayor Reyzi during his second term in office. The project, "Integrated Water Cycle – Stage I", involves the construction of a pumping system for waste-water treatment and deepwater discharging and additional waste-water collectors servicing the new and the old parts of the city of Sozopol as well as Chernomorets. The project also includes the provision of sewers for the Misaria and Provlaka residential districs.

The main goal is to create a reliable alimentary and waste-water system in Sozopol and Chernomorets by improving the quality of the existing services and reducing the negative environmental impact of discharged waste waters in line with EU practices and policies.
