A new €15 mln investment in Alcomet

The company Alcomet in the town of Shumen has made a new investment totaling €15 mln. The company is a beneficiary under Operational Programme Competitiveness - Investments in Green Industry procedure. The amount of the grant is BGN 3.8 mln. This became clear at the official opening of the new capacity in the Shumen-based plant.

“The new project will cut energy costs at Alcomet by 30%,” said Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delian Dobrev. “Thanks to this investment, the capacity of the rolling workshop is expected to increase by about 40% per year to 80 tonnes and the annual turnover of the enterprise to reach €200 mln,” specified Dobrev. The implementation of the project is expected to open 36 new jobs.

Delian Dobrev stressed that Alcomet is the largest supplier of household foil to the European market with a 20% market share. More than €65 mln has been invested in the enterprise over the past 13 years.
