Businesses: Fiscal discipline should be maintained in the current situation

“Fiscal discipline should be maintained in the current situation of a political crisis in the country and the currency board should be revoked by no means,” Rumen Radev, Vice Chairman of the Industrial Capital Association, told DarikFinance.bg. According to him, taxes should not be changed or nationalisation talked of, no matter who takes over power.

“What is happening now cannot but have a negative impact on businesses due to the rising uncertainty. All this may drive foreign investors away. If the crisis deepens, it will affect the orders of companies. In this situation, small businesses will be most vulnerable,” commented Rumen Radev.

“Uncertainty could affect exports adversely. Therefore, according to business representatives, the more quickly problems are resolved, the fewer new difficulties businesses will face. It is important not to spend money at the moment as a result of pressure from the street protests,” added Radev.

According to business representatives, it is fair that all public utilities (electricity distribution companies, the National Electric Company, etc.) disclose information as public companies and not present annual aggregated reports.
