President calls Bulgarians to preserve country’s and EU unity

On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Romelia signed September 6, 1885, President Rossen Plevneliev said that the then young Bulgarian state managed to overcome the first big challenge it had to face thanks to the joint efforts of all Bulgarians. As Europeans, today, we should defend the unity not only of the Bulgarian nation but also that of the European Union, the Head of State further pointed out. In relation to the unprecedented immigrant flow towards Europe, the President called for united efforts for overcoming the crisis, because its solution is not within the reach of any country on its own.
