“We welcome the plan to assist farmers and the principles it was based. The financial package for each country must be determined in relation to the farmer’s losses.” That is what Minister of Agriculture and Food, Desislava Taneva, said at an extraordinary Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Brussels, the press centre of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food announced.

The European Commission’s plan provides for assistance of EUR 500 million for farmers, fast release of 70% of the direct payments to farmers as of October 16 and paying off to 85% of some of the measures in the Farming sector under the Rural Development Operational Programme.

Minister Desislava Taneva reminded that Bulgaria has placed the issue for the support of dairy sector last December during the Agriculture and Fisheries Council.
