“I am convinced that the current leadership of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) cannot deal with the problems it provoked by itself, so it must step down,” member of the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) Mariya Stoyanova said in relation with the sitting of the media regulator on Tuesday, which discussed the BNR request for license for a Turkish radio broadcast in the city of Kardzhali, which is predominantly inhabited by Bulgarian Muslims of Turkish origin.

“The leadership says they want issuing a license, for part-time radio broadcasting which is supposed to be a regional radio broadcasting in Kardzahali. However, there is no way a part of national Horizon radio broadcasting to be licensed by the CEM as radio broadcasting for Kardzhali. This is not an option in law,” Stoyanova commented.
