Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing from slaughter and we should show more tolerance, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said in Sofia.

"Bulgarians have shown their tolerance in the past and there is no country in the world that forgot what this country did for the Jews in the Second World War", the PM added and said acting as a civilized European country during the current migration crisis would only bring benefits to Bulgaria in the future.

However, PM Borissov pointed out that Bulgaria was guarding well its borders from traffickers and illegal migrants.

He added that fighting terrorism was one thing, while showing humane attitude towards refugees was another.
