“The school year will start everywhere as scheduled,” said Bulgarian Minister of Education and Science Todor Tanev, speaking Monday for bTV.

The school year in Bulgaria starts on September 15.

“There are 57 schools where repair works are underway. There will be probably more but if they have not notified us, they will be imposed sanctions. However, the repairs will not be an obstacle to school activities,” Minister Tanev remarked.

In his words, 5 schools have had to be closed in the 9 months since he became minister.

Tanev assured the authorities were doing their best not to close schools and the solutions to handle the issue include changes to the minimum number of pupils per class, drawing young teachers, and drawing unemployed specialists with higher education diplomas to teaching jobs.
