Foreign tourists 20% down this summer: Deputy Minister

Deputy Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva said that foreign tourist numbers in Bulgaria this summer contracted by 20%. She was in Troyan for the 15th annual meeting of the association of Bulgarian tour operators and travel agents. The association recommended measures to buck the trend including stronger online advertising and upgrading the infrastructure and skills of the staff employed in tourism. Irena Georgieva said the season had not been as weak as expected.
