No increase of refugee pressure on Bulgaria’s border”: minister
“There is no information about increase of the refugee pressure along the Bulgarian borders, just on contrary. Over the past twenty-four hours, around 300 people were not allowed to enter the territory of the country, while around 100 were detained,” Bulgarian Minister of Defence Nikolay Nenchev said speaking on bTV.
Asked whether there was a risk of a diplomatic scandal over the presence of army officers at the Bulgarian borders, Mr Nenchev said: “There should not be. We have completely different functions. The 68 military officers at the border to Turkey are in charge of maintaining the fence.”
He explained that the military officers along the borders were armed but under the rules they could use their weapons only in case of inevitable defence.
