300 km of motorways, 2,000 km of repaired roads in 2 mandates of Bulgaria’s CEDB (ROUNDUP)
“Construction of Hemus motorway is a top priority for the Bulgarian government and we will not give up on the financing,” Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova said during her visit to the town of Veliko Tarnovo on Monday.
Minister Pavlova confirmed that Prime Minister Boyko Borisov had declared that this was major goal of the cabinet and it would work on its realisation.
“I guess you remember that during the mandate of the previous government of former prime minister Oresharski the motorway was completely excluded from the European financing. We managed to re-include it,” the minister remarked.
“300 km of motorways and more than 2,000 km of repaired roads will be a result of the two mandates of the cabinet of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov,” Minister Lilyana Pavlova said.
The minister added that the Struma and Maritsa motorways would be finalised.
In her words, all these projects and measures were a precondition for the establishment of a good road network in the country.
In the meantime, traffic along the Bebresh viaduct of Bulgaria’s Hemus motorway will be officially launched in exploitation ahead of schedule. The measure aims at easing the traffic of the citizens travelling on the last day of the four-day holiday, the press office of the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works announced.
The repair works on the left lane of the viaduct in the Varna-Sofia direction was finalised on Monday. The viaduct is 720 m long, while the price of the project is BGN 15.5 million.
