“We have to admit the previous government and we protect our borders in a reliable manner. For this reason, the entire refugee flow passes through Turkey, across its border with Greece and then [heads to] Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Germany, and Sweden,” said Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, speaking Friday for bTV.

“I have the letter of the Turkish Prime Minister from the other day, which explains in detail what the situation concerning refugees in his country is. These are already millions of people and these are not only the 2 million [of refugees] in Turkey. There are some 300,000 in Istanbul and others in Edirne some 40 km away from our border,” Borisov remarked.

In his words, various services report the people who were in refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan sell their belongings to seek a new fatherland.

“This is an unprecedented tragedy for humankind. People in the EU are immensely concerned for all of this, as it has been said, is now [just] starting,” the Prime Minister noted.

According to him, there are many questions about the origin of refugees because only 40% of them are Syrians.
