Bulgaria PM: Bulgarian military, police to receive salaries even if 2% target deficit not met

I raised the target deficit to 2%. This is what Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced, speaking before journalists, promising that the military and police would still receive salaries even in the case of a budget deficit
“Even if the target is not met, we will not leave the police and the military without salaries. We will be working on our budget plan,” Borisov said.

He announced that Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov had taken the task of drafting the budget’s deficit plan. “He will present it to me and then we will present it to our coalition partners so that we can discuss Bulgaria’s financial state and what we can afford. We have made commitments and we intend to fulfill them,” Prime Minister Borisov pointed out.
“We have made a commitment to raise teachers’ salaries as well Christmas and Easter allowances for pensioners by providing additional BGN 100 million for them. We will make every effort to fulfill this promise,” the senior official added.
