Bulgaria ex-president asks Belene residents for forgiveness over unrealised project for Belene NPP

Georgi Parvanov, leader of the Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) party and former Bulgarian president (2002 – 2012), asked the residents of the town of Belene, district of Pleven, for forgiveness over the unrealised project for a nuclear power station – Belene NPP, the ABV press centre announced.

Speaking at a meeting with residents of the municipality, Parvanov opined there had been no project more significant than the one for Belene NPP in the entire transition period.

According to Parvanov, the ABV continues to seek ways for its realisation for this reason.

The former president stated urgent measures had to be taken at once if people did not want the Bulgarian energy sector to be faced with a deeper crisis.

Georgi Parvanov presented ABV’s mayor nominee in Belene Krasimir Grunchev to the residents of the municipality.
