Bulgarian citizens should prepare for extraordinary measures over hazardous weather: ministry

“The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts intensive hazardous meteorological phenomena for Tuesday,” Asen Lichev, Director of the Water Management Department with the Ministry of Environment and Water, announced for FOCUS News Agency.

“Code Red has been declared in the district of Burgas for Tuesday over heavy rain and strong wind. The weather will be highly hazardous. There is a forecast for highly intensive hazardous meteorological phenomena. There is a risk of huge material damages and incidents and risks for the life of the people,” the expert explained.

Mr Lichev appealed to the citizens to stay informed and observe the recommendations and advises of the competent authorities and to be ready for extraordinary measures.

Recall:

Bulgaria’s district of Burgas has declared the highest warning code – Code Red, over heavy rain and strong wind expected on Tuesday.

The rainfall in Burgas expected tomorrow is of 60 to 70 litres per square meter, and even more in the far southern parts of the district.

There will be also hurricane northern wind.

Code Red means that the weather is highly hazardous. The intensive meteorological phenomena could cause serious damages and pose risk for the life of the people.

Code Orange over heavy rain and strong wind is declared in four districts for Tuesday – Yambol, Sliven, Shumen and Varna. The expected rainfall in these districts is up to 50 litres per square meter.

Code Yellow over heavy rain and strong wind is declared in nine districts in Bulgaria. These are Haskovo, Stara Zagora, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte, Ruse, Razgrad, Silistra and Dorich.
