Bulgaria is ready to help Moldova on its path towards European Union

Bulgaria supports Moldova's European perspective and Bulgaria was also among the first member states to ratify the EU Association Agreement. This was what President Rossen Plevneliev said at a meeting with Prime Minister of Moldova, Valeriu Strelet, during the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Bulgarian head of state pointed out the willingness of Bulgaria that the ongoing administrative reform in Moldova should not affect the region of Taraclia, which is the historical center of the Bulgarian minority in Moldova. President Plevneliev expressed gratitude to the Moldovan government for its efforts to create the necessary conditions for the preservation of language and cultural identity of the 65,000-strong Bulgarian community in the country. Today Bulgarian language is taught in 29 schools in Moldova and in the Taraclia State University. Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet thanked for Bulgaria's strong support for the reform processes and for the European path of the country. According to him, Moldova sees Bulgaria as a model for Euro-Atlantic integration.
