Ireland to help Bulgaria prepare for EU presidency

Ireland will cooperate with Bulgaria for the preparation of Bulgaria’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2018, through exchange of experience of the two countries’ administrations and training of Bulgarian civil servants by the Irish Institute for Public Administration. This has been agreed by Bulgarian Deputy PM for European Policies Coordination and Institutional Affairs Meglena Kuneva at a meeting with Irish Minister for European Affairs Dara Murphy and with Lorcan Fullam, Assistant Secretary at EU Affairs and Coordination Division. So far Ireland has had seven successful European Union presidencies and has assisted new member states. During her visit Kuneva met with members of the Bulgarian community in Ireland including teachers in the two Bulgarian Sunday schools.
