Stolen wood in Bulgaria 40,000 to 100,000 m3 per year
“Stolen wood in Bulgaria amounts to 40,000 to 100,000 m3 per year, according to analyses of the state forest enterprises and the Executive Forest Agency,” said Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Kostov, speaking Saturday in district centre Gabrovo.
A new information system for issuing transport tickets for wood was presented at the administrative building housing the North Central State Enterprise in the town.
Georgi Kostov pointed out wood at present cost some BGN 60 per m3.
In his words, due to the new information system, around BGN 6 million would annually be added to the state budget.
Deputy Minister Kostov noted the system would be connected to the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the National Social Security Institute (NSSI).
The national information system will operate in the North Central State Enterprise only over the next month and will be applied in the rest of state enterprises at the beginning of December.
Before a certain amount of wood is transported, a small plate with the abbreviation of the respective state enterprise and a unique consecutive number will be attached to each construction wood log. A small plate will be attached to each cubic metre of wood for heating or of wood to be processed. When the wood is loaded onto a vehicle, an employee of the respective state enterprise will register the transport ticket, which will contain various details, in the information system. There will be also information about the wood to be transported. Through an electronic mobile device and common software, the information will be received in the servers of the Executive Forest Agency and of the respective enterprise and will be visible on their websites.
Thus, the transportation of wood from the place of felling to the warehouse or company it will be processed in can be followed in real time.
