“We want the exceeding of the speed limit with more than 60 km/h to be included in the Penal Code and considered a crime,” said Commissioner Boyko Ranovski, head of the Traffic Police Directorate with the General Directorate of National Police, speaking in an interview with the morning programme of bTV.

Mr Ranovski informed that some 526 people had died, while 6,814 people had been injured in road accidents on the territory of the country since the start of the year.

“The statistical data show that the victims are more compared with last year. There are 20 more casualties and 214 more injured people,” the commissioner remarked.

“The “war on the road” cliché is fully active. I think that many interested parties and institutions are already convinced that there is a need of more drastic measures towards the violators,” Mr Ranovski commented further.
