“Sofia is the city with the lowest unemployment rate in Bulgaria,” said Yordanka Fandakova, Sofia incumbent mayor and mayor candidate for another mandate, speaking at the ceremony on the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Bulgaria (CITUB).

“Sofia’s unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is the lowest rate reported including in Europe. Over the past years the Bulgarian capital city used to be in the top three of the big cities with lowest unemployment rate,” Ms Fandakova remarked.

The mayor pointed out that 1,700 people worked on the maintenance and exploitation of the subway.

“The new jobs in the education system are constantly increasing. Over the past years we opened 2,100 new jobs in kindergartens and schools. More than 150 new jobs were opened in the field of social services,” she commented further.
