“There is 9% growth in number of tourists who have visited Sofia in the first eight months of the year, compared to the same period in 2014.” That is what director of Municipal Enterprise Tourist Service with Sofia Municipality, Ivo Marinov, said in an interview for FOCUS News Agency .

He explained that the growth of Bulgarian tourists was 9,8%, while of foreign tourists was less over 7,9%. “There is an increase of number of overnight stays in the first eight months of the year by 7,1% against the same period of the previous year,” Marinov specified.

In his words, there are several factors for this increase of tourists’ number on the background of the development of tourism in the country in general.

“It is important to mention investments that Sofia Municipality made in the infrastructure of the city and the new attractions related with cultural – historical tourism,” he added.
