Donald Tusk: Bulgaria is ready to be part of Schengen
Bulgaria is ready to become part of the Schengen area, said the President of the European Council Donald Tusk after talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. According to him Bulgaria is the best example for protection of the borders among all EU member states. He voiced the opinion that the debate should be re-directed – from coping with the symptoms to coping with the reasons for the migration crisis. On his part, Bulgarian Premier Borissov said it was rather offensive to put forth the subject of Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen. “Half of the countries in Europe failed in terms of Schengen area borders. I don’t even insist for the topic to be tabled in the agenda of talks, because I expect our European partners would realize how unjust they have been to the Bulgarian people” said Premier Boyko Borissov after the meeting.
