Bulgaria and Greece negotiate gas interconnection project
Bulgaria and Greece are holding talks in Athens about the future gas interconnection between the two countries. The US diplomacy urges Alexis Tsipras to complete the gas link between Bulgaria and Greece, which would reduce the dependence of the European countries on Russian gas. According to Greek Minister of Energy Panos Skurletis, the interconnection between Greece and Bulgaria is a priority in his country’s energy policy. The Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the US Department of State Amos Hochstein will meet on Wednesday afternoon with Minister Panos Skurletis and Bulgaria's Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova. The new interconnector will supply Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary with gas from Azerbaijan, thus reducing the dependence of these countries on the import of Russian gas.
