Premier Borissov guarantees full EU support for Ankara on refugee crisis

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov thanked Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan for the help his country provides in view of the migrant issue. In a phone call with Borissov, Erdogan said it is important to alleviate the refugee burden, which Turkey carries on its shoulders, and called for this issue to be discussed during the next sitting of the Council of Europe. “The migrant crisis has grown into a global problem and the EU should make big efforts on the issue” President Erdogan said. Premier Borissov on his part confirmed Bulgaria’s support for Ankara and added that in Brussels he is to have meetings with the heads of the EC, EP and the Council of Europe, to consider the matter.

Furthermore, Premier Boyko Borissov met in Istanbul with his Turkish counterpart, Premier Ahmet Dautogly (left). The two Prime Ministers discussed current issues, focusing on the migrant crisis and the related risks for security. They also discussed the management of borders and the development of bilateral relations in the spirit of good neighborliness and partnership.
