Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart. The major accent of the talks between the two was the development of the trade and economic ties between Bulgaria and China, the press office of the Bulgarian Government announced.

The two were unanimous about their wish to strengthen the all-round friendly partnership and cooperation between the countries.

Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov pointed at Bulgaria’s interest in boosting the Chinese investments here, expanding the exchange and the variety of Bulgarian products at the Chinese market and encouraging the exchange of tourists.

The two outlined potential for investments realisation in several fields. The Chinese official, on the other hand, put a focus on the construction sector.

According to the two, other fields of possible strengthening of the cooperation include the agriculture, transport, culture, science and technologies.

They also discussed the development of the transport corridors along the New Silk Road within the One Belt, One Road initiative.

Speaking on behalf of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, Minister Wang Yi invited the Bulgarian Prime Minister to visit China with a Bulgarian delegation.

Mr Borisov also expressed his wish to meet with his Chinese counterpart and discuss concrete projects for practical cooperation.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister added that he would be happy for Bulgaria to host the next meeting of the government leaders of China and the Central-Eastern Europe (CEE) (16+1).

According to Mr Borisov, this cooperation initiative was an important platform for expanding the bilateral ties with China in all fields.
