Bulgaria re-elects 11 mayors in Sunday local elections
According to initial data of the exit poll, Bulgarian voters re-elected the mayors of 11 district cities and towns in the local elections held on Sunday, the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.
These are, as follows: Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB)); Mayor of Varna Ivan Portnih (CEDB); Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov (CEDB); Mayor of Stara Zagora Zhivko Todorov (CEDB); Mayor of Ruse Plamen Stoilov (CEDB); Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov (CEDB); Mayor of Blagoevgrad Atanas Kambitov (CEDB); Mayor of Kyustendil Petar Paunov (Coalition Kyustendil); Mayor of Dobrich Detelina Nikolova (CEDB); Mayor of Smolyan Nikolay Melemov (CEDN); Mayor of Kardzhali Hasan Azis (Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF).
Bulgaria’s second-biggest city of Plovdiv will face a run-off between current mayor Ivan Totev (CEDB) and former mayor Slavcho Atanasov (Patriotic Front).
The coalitional partners Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) and the Reformist Bloc will face each other at a run-off in three district towns – Haskovo, Pleven and Montana.
The CEDB and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will head at run-offs in several district towns – Yambol, Sliven, Razgrad, Shumen, Pernik, Vratsa, and others.
