Salaries of Bulgarian secondary school teachers to be increased with BGN 70
Bulgarian Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov, President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Plamen Dimitrov and Chairperson of the Trade Union of Bulgarian Teachers Yanka Takeva held a meeting at the head office of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday. The talks were also attended by Prime Minster Boyko Borisov.
The major decision made at the sitting was that the salaries of Bulgarian secondary school teachers will be increased as of October.
“Consultations on the draft budget for 2016 will continue until it is voted at the National Assembly,” Bulgarian Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov said speaking at a briefing after the meeting.
“The purpose of today’s meeting was to discuss how the budget of the secondary school teachers will be increase.
We had a long and useful meeting that developed into initial commentaries on the draft budget for 2016 and the 3-year prognoses,” Mr Goranov added.
“I would like to stress that today we did not discuss the framework of the budget. This will happen at the sitting of the National Council on Tripartite Cooperation,” the minister said further.
Mr Goranov commented that the talks with President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Plamen Dimitrov and Chairperson of the Trade Union of Bulgarian Teachers Yanka Takeva ended up with positive decisions.
“Tomorrow the Bulgarian Council of Ministers will adopt the allocation of BGN 20 million for the people employed in the secondary education sector,” said Chairperson of the Trade Union of Bulgarian Teachers Yanka Takeva.
“On the eve of November 1 I would like to greet all teachers, who are the real leaders of the Bulgarian National Revival. I would like to make an announcement, too, something we just finalised.
I would like to thank Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov, as well as President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Plamen Dimitrov, for doing their best over the past months and guaranteed the increase of the salaries of the people employed in the secondary education system with a budget of BGN 20 million as of October 1,” Ms Takeva remarked.
The salaries of the secondary school teachers will be increased with BGN 70, coming into effect as of October 1. With the increase the minimum teacher’s salary becomes BGN 600.
