Rosen Plevneliev refers hacker attacks against Central Election Commission website to State Agency for National Security

President Rosen Plevneliev believes that the national referendum on electronic voting held on 25 October is an indisputable success in Bulgaria’s democratic development. Plevneliev said that the turnout of 1.8 million for the vote suggested that the Bulgarian civil society had far outstripped politicians who self-identified as part of the political elite. In case the political class turns a blind eye to the outcome of the referendum it will commit a gross political mistake. In official figures from the Central Election Commission the introduction of electronic voting was supported by  1,883,411, while704,182 voted with NO. The turnout was 39.34% of citizens with voting rights and 69.52% voted with YES to electronic voting. The president said he had referred election day hacker attacks against the website of the Central Election Commission to the State Agency for National Security.
