Today is a day for reflection before the local election run-off tomorrow. The Election Code prohibits any form of political campaigning by political parties or candidates as well as election polls  “in any form whatsoever“.

 

The prohibition is in place on the day before the election and on polling day itself. Voting on 1 November starts at 6 AM until 7 PM; if there are people still waiting to cast their vote in front of the polling stations, election day may continue until 8 PM.

 

A total of 1,128 Bulgarian settlements will elect mayors in the run-offs tomorrow after the candidates failed to win a majority at the first round of the local elections held last Sunday, said the spokesperson for the Central Electoral Commission Tsvetozar Tomov. The run-off vote will be for mayors of 970 settlements, 133 mayors of municipalities and 25 district mayors in the three biggest Bulgarian cities – Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna.
