Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will meet with Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov and Interior Minister Rumiana Bachvarova over the tension in the Interior Ministry. The meeting is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m., the press office of the Bulgarian cabinet announced.

The officials will discuss the cuts in the social package and the retirement bonuses provided to the officers of the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Defence.

On Tuesday the employees of the Interior Ministry went out on a protest against the draft 2016 Budget, which envisages decrease of the salaries and the retirement compensations for the officers in the security sector.

The new texts also envisage suspension of length of service bonuses and cut of the compensations paid when an officer leaves the Interior Ministry system.

Yesterday police officers from Sofia blocked key roads in the capital after the negotiations between ministers Goranov and Bachvarova and the representatives of the trade unions failed to reach an agreement.

More protests are planned for Wednesday.
