Rossen Plevneliev: EU and NATO to view SEE as focus of geo-political interests
The European Union and NATO should view the region of Southeast Europe not as a periphery but as a focus of geo-political interests and policies. This is a statement Bulgarian President Rossen Plevneliev made at the summit of NATO member states from Central and Eastern Europe. Bulgaria’s President defined the situation with security in the region as unpredictable as a result of the record number of crises. He said that it is high time efforts to be united in order to deal with the causes and not simply tackling the aftermath of those crises. Peace is not only the absence of war. Peace means rules and the supremacy of the law, which are valid for all, the Bulgarian Head of State further pointed out.
