Bulgaria receives 50 – 100 refugees by end-2015

It is expected that Bulgaria shall receive 50 – 100 refugees by the end of the year, Vice Premier Ivaylo Kalfin said in Athens, where the 11th global meeting of Bulgarian media takes place. He spoke before the dozens of Bulgarian journalists from all over the world on the hot refugee topic. ”We prefer to take Syrian families, which could integrate more easily, if they have education or are willing to obtain a degree or professional skills, allowing them to take part in the labor market,” Kalfin said. In his words real war refugees should be a priority and not economic migrants. “The truth is that Bulgaria is not wanted by the refugees, they continue towards West Europe due to the much better options there. However, this doesn’t mean the problem has passed alongside – not a single European country can praise with that,” the deputy pm further said.
