Cuba intends to resume imports of Bulgarian food and develop joint ventures with Bulgaria

Cuba intends to resume imports of Bulgarian food and develop with Bulgaria joint venture companies in the food industry sector, Cuban Minister of Food Industries Maria del Carmen Concepcion Gonzales said during the meeting with Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy Bozhidar Loukarsky in the Cuban capital Havana. Minister Loukarsky mentioned the possibility of resuming the production of Bulgarian traditional yoghurt for the Cuban market by the state-owned company LB Bulgaricum. Minister Gonzales voiced hopes that Bulgaria would increase the imports of Cuban cigars, rum, coffee and other food products. Ms Gonzales invited Bulgarian food companies to attend the Food Fair in Cuba next July. Minister Loukarsky and the Bulgarian business delegation also met with the Head of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce Orlando Guillen. It became clear that a Bulgarian firm from the high-tech field intends to hire Cuban IT experts. Other Bulgarian companies also showed interest to do business with Cuba. Bulgargeomin Company presented its copper extraction project and Stroitelna Mehanizaciq showed willingness to participate at the replacement of water pipes in the Cuban capital.
