Human trafficking – main threat to Bulgaria’s national security

The National Security Consultative Council has concluded that human trafficking is the main threat to Bulgaria’s national security. In a statement after the forum President Rosen Plevneliev warned that migration issues, human trafficking and terrorism will continue to be serious threats. The refugee wave has created a real burden to the social systems and the security services of the state, causing the sparing of a serious financial resource. The state hasn’t got enough money to cope with the strengthening cyber threats, for instance – the institutional websites hacked during the recent local elections, the president went on to say. This country can cope with the challenges only together with its EU and NATO partners, the head of state said in conclusion.
