MEP Iliana Yotova: The migrant crisis may turn out political

Europe went to the meeting with African leaders in Malta with almost empty hands, said MEP from the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats Iliana Yotova. According to her, from all planned “hot points”, only one is functioning and that only 147 out of the total of 160 000 have been moved from Greece and Italy under the so-called quota system. Yotova is of the opinion that there exists a dangerous tendency for an egoistic enclosure of the countries members of the EU within national politics instead of sharing European solutions. For her, the proof to that end is the resumption of borders between countries within the Schengen area and the building of fences between member countries. The MEP concludes that the danger exists for the migrant crisis to grow into a political one, both within the individual countries and among EU members.
