The producer price index in agriculture in the third quarter of 2015 increased by 6.4% in comparison with the same quarter of 2014. The crop output index increased by 8.8% while the animal output index decreased by 8.5%. In comparison with previous year the prices of agricultural output went down by 2.5%. The crop output index retained almost the same level while the animal output decreased by 10.1%, Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced on Thursday.
In third quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter of 2014 higher were the prices of cereals - by 5.6%, industrial crops - by 19.2%, potatoes - by 13.1%, and fresh fruit - by 0.6%. Lower were the prices of fresh vegetables - by 8.3%. Higher were the prices of soft wheat - by 5.2%, barley - by 6.7%, rape - by 22.0%, cucumbers - by 4.1%, onions - by 10.0%, apples - by 17.6% and apricots - by 10.3%. Lower were the prices of tomatoes - by 23.8%, green pepper - by 11.0%, cherries - by 20.5% and peaches - by 5.3%.
Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014 a decrease was observed in the prices of live animals – by 8.3% and in animal products - by 8.6%. Most significant decrease was reported in the price of cattle – by 32.2% and less in the prices of pigs - by 5.6% and poultry - by 3.4%. The prices of sheep and goats went up by 0.2%. Among the animal products decrease was reported in the price of caw milk - by 14.0% while the price of eggs went up - by 11.7% as well as of honey - by 7.5%.
Compared to 2014 in the third quarter of 2015 lower were the prices of cereals - by 2.8%, potatoes – by 3.5%, fresh vegetables - by 22.9% and fresh fruit - by 5.0%. Increase was observed only in the prices of industrial crops - by 10.1%. In the animal output lower were the prices of live animals - by 7.8% as well as of animal products - by 11.4%.
In third quarter of 2015 compared to 2014 lower were the prices of soft wheat - by 5.5%. barley - by 3.9%, tomatoes - by 33.4%, cucumbers - by 20.1%, green pepper - by 27.4% and cherries - by 25.8%. Higher were the prices of rape - by 14.8%, sunflower - by 11.5%, peaches - by 19.4% and apples - by 3.9%.
In animal output in third quarter of 2015 compared to 2014 a decrease was observed in all categories of animals. In animal products output decreased the price of caw milk - by 16.3% while the prices of eggs increased by 8.1% as well as the price of honey - by 10.3%.

Price indices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture
The index of prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in the third quarter of 2015 was 0.9% below the level in the same quarter of previous year and by 2.2% compared to 2014.
In third quarter of 2015 compared to corresponding quarter of 2014 lower were the prices of: energy and fuels - by 10.5%, plant protection products - by 3.1% and animal feeding stuffs - by 1.6%. Higher were the prices of fertilizers - by 22.5%, veterinary products - by 3.2% and seeds and planting stocks - by 1.6%.
Compared to 2014 in third quarter of 2015 the same trend was observed in the variation of prices - index of the prices of energy and fuels decreased by 8.9%, as well as the indices of plant protection products – by 3.9% and animal feeding stuffs - by 2.0%. Higher were the prices of fertilizers - by 8.5%, veterinary products - by 1.2% and of seeds and planting stocks - by 1.1%.
