“Capacity of the Bulgarian capital city Sofia to shelter refugees is filled,” said Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova speaking with journalists after the sitting of Sofia Municipal Council on Monday, commenting on the enhanced security measures in the city after the series of coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris.

“The legal refugees are not the thing that concerns me but rather the illegal migrants,” the mayor remarked, adding that she had asked for constant checks and monitoring on the illegal migrants in the city.

Ms Fandakova also called for stricter sanctions for the migrant smugglers.

Commenting on the quota relocation of the refugees as a solution to the crisis in Europe, the Mayor of Sofia said: “After what happened on Friday all governments and countries in Europe should reconsider their decisions and possibilities because it is obvious that the situation has changed.”
