Such attacks occur not for the first time in the history of my country, said the Ambassador of France in Bulgaria Xavier Lapeyre De Cabanes said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio on the occasion of the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, in which over 120 people were killed.

The threat of terrorists on democracy exists since there is democracy in the world, the ambassador said, adding: Terrorists will always be there, but even if these terrorists were sent by ISIS and even if they are French citizens or not, they were trained and organized outside the country.

HE Xavier Lapeyre De Cabanes commented on the statement of French President Francois Hollande on Saturday in which the French head of state mentioned that there was one terrorist army, ISIS, which is waging a war.

This means that a war is under way in which we must emerge as winners, said the Ambassador of France in Bulgaria, pointing that if the French people want to live freely, they must take the risk of freedom: It is absolutely impossible to put a policeman behind every Frenchman and to have soldiers everywhere. This would turn life into a prison, and this is not what our perception of living in a free society means.

The difference with the US is that France is very close to ISIS in terms of geographic location, de Cabannes added. Responding to a question why the terrorist attacks took place precisely on the territory of the French capital, he said: France is a symbol of that type of freedom which is our common value, but there is also something else - my country has been in the first ranks of countries fighting against ISIS for two years now and was also among the first European countries demanding a united solution in Syria without Bashar al-Assad.

Dozens of people gathered at the vigil outside the French embassy in Sofia last night in a spontaneous desire to show their homage to the victims of the deadly attacks. Ambassador Xavier de Laper Kaban expressed gratitude to the Bulgarian people for the solidarity shown in this difficult time for the French nation.
