Stanimir Radevski, Mayor of the municipality of Pavel Banya, district of Stara Zagora, hit with a car on Monday evening a 63-year-old man, who later passed away, the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.

Radevski was driving a municipal car from Pavel Banya to the village of Viden, which is some 2 km away from the municipal centre.

The victim died in an ambulance while being taken to an emergency medical care centre.

The 63-year-old man was returning to Viden and was accompanied by his 19-year-old granddaughter.

He also had his bicycle with him but was not riding it.

According to Deputy Mayor Yordanka Eneva, there were safety reflectors neither on the man nor on the bicycle.A breath test alcohol determined no alcohol in Radevski’s blood.

A blood sample was later taken in the town of Kazanlak.
