EC: Bulgaria’s gas connections with neighboring countries are of key importance

Inter-connector gas links of Bulgaria with Romania, Serbia, Greece and Turkey have become part of the energy infrastructure projects the European Commission marks of key importance. Out of a total of 195 key projects included in the special list of the Commission, they are among those expected to contribute for the strengthening of the European energy union and the diversification of energy suppliers to Europe. Other Bulgarian projects supported as sites of special importance, is the expansion of the Chiren gas depot, as well as the modernization of the northern part of the national gas grid. This country may receive European financing also for the building of a gas distribution center, suggested by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov after the suspension of the South Stream project.
