Bulgaria has climbed two positions up in terms of EU funds’ absorption for the 2007 – 2013 programming period, the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy’s website points out. According to Brussels this country has absorbed 82.8 percent of the EU funding. A bit over a month before the expiring of the programming period it is already clear that Bulgaria won’t absorb some 15 percent of EU funding over the first programming period of its EU membership. A large amount of these funds have been compensated by the state budget which caused the updating of the 2015 budget.
