Limiting Bulgarian army dependence on countries outside EU and NATO is right, Defence Minister says

After the ratification in parliament of an agreement for Polish logistical support for the MiG-29 jets of the Bulgarian Air Force, Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev said that for the first time in many years Bulgaria had its own vision for the development of the air forces. "I am grateful to the parliamentary parties for ratifying the agreement with Poland for the repair of the Bulgarian MiG 29 engines. There were a number of attacks against that decision in the past few months. I am absolutely sure that limiting the dependence of the Bulgarian army on countries outside the European Union and NATO is a step in the right direction in this difficult moment for Bulgaria and the world. Poland which is our ally and partner in NATO and the EU gives guarantees for the quality of repairs and flight security,” Minister Nenchev added. He said also that Poland repairs MiG 29 jets under its own procedures and did not need a Russian license for the repairs.
