Parliament ratifies intergovernmental agreement between Bulgaria and Poland on MiG-29

The National Assembly supported the draft bill for the ratifying of the Agreement between the government of Bulgaria and the government of Poland for the provision of logistic support for the MiG-29 fighter planes. With 133 votes “for” and 42 votes “against” MPs endorsed the document at first reading. The intergovernmental agreement with Poland envisages agreements for the repair of six engines and the use of two Polish engines for a period two years. The two Polish-owned engines will be provided within a period of 20 days after the agreement enters into force. The price the sides agreed upon is EUR 1 023 000 per engine, the transport expenses remaining for the Polish side. After the ratification Bulgarian Defense Minister Nikolai Nenchev said that all questions concerning the agreement with the Polish side have been discussed in detail with the Air Force and their political stand is quite clear.
