Bulgaria sets itself the ambitious goal by 2020 to make the portion of funding for scientific research and development activities reach 1.5% of country’s GDP, announced Bulgarian Minister of the Economy Bozhidar Lukarski. He made the statement at a meeting entitled “Challenges of technological development of Bulgaria”, organized by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Minister Lukarski added that the goal is achievable, but that in order to reach there it is necessary to define the overall vision for development. He pointed out that the policies of the Ministry of Economy aim at stimulating innovations as a major factor for attaining a speedier growth and an increasing added value in Bulgaria’s economy. In 2014 expenses for scientific research mark an increase by 25.8%, surpassing EUR 325 million.
