Bag detonated in suspicious van near Sofia Airport Terminal 1, no explosive device found

A suspicious van with Belgian registration parked close to Sofia Airport Terminal 1 has been checked by the police. A dog led to the van to sniff out a possible explosive device has reacted positively. This however is no 100% guarantee there was such a device in the van. In the end, policemen from Operative Technical Information Directorate of the Ministry of Interior have detonated a bag found in the van with a controlled explosion. No explosive device has been found in the van. Currently, Terminal 1 remains closed for passengers. This is yet another signal of abandoned luggage in the capital. A few days ago several police cordoned off an area in the city center in the wake of signals for abandoned luggage
