Sofia City Court found on Tuesday, December 1, Hristo Biserov, former deputy chairperson of the 42nd National Assembly and former chair of the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, not guilty of the charges pressed against him.

Hristo Biserov was held accountable for three deliberate crimes – evading the establishment and payment of taxes of particularly large amount; violating the Foreign Exchange Act as regards the obligation to declare currency valuables, which was done under the conditions of a continuing offence; and concealing a truth in a written declaration under Article 4, Para 2 of the Public Disclosure of Senior Public Officials’ Financial Interests Act, which was submitted at the National Audit Office.

Sofia City Court returned the indictment to the prosecution in May to tackle breaches in its descriptive part and the prosecution later issued it again.
