Rakia distiller device owners launch protests

The owners of cauldrons for distilling brandy and small quantity grape producers from southwestern Bulgaria come out for a warning protest meeting. Hundreds of producers discontent with the suggested changes in the Bill on excise and tax warehouses are gathering on the E-79 highway. The protesters are firmly opposing the planned changes adopted by Parliament and claim that these would not only destroy the small brandy distilleries but also the producers of small quantities of grapes. According to the changes, brandy can be distilled only in the period July 1-December 31, while the most active period for the production of rakia brandy is in the period January – Mach. The introduction of these changes is lobbying policy, the protesting producers maintain.
