Bulgaria’s ABV clearly explained why it wouldn’t back budget revision: Petkov

“Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) clearly explained why it would not back the revision of the 2015 state budget,” said ABV Deputy Chairperson Rumen Petkov, speaking Sunday for Nova TV.

“A Prime Minister cannot say: “Let whoever minister wants more money hand in his or her resignation” and over half of the ministries had their budgets increased. The ministries that had strict financial discipline are two or three and they in fact defended interests and conducted policies,” the ABV official noted.

He pointed to the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works as such instances and stressed their budgets would not be increased despite being kept to.

“The budgets of municipalities cannot be changed. There are several dramatic points and if the government does not take them into account, this would mean a disaster for them,” the politician remarked.

He remarked there were several hundred new mayor’s offices and an amassed budget deficit of unpaid salaries of people taking electable posts who would not have a new mandate.

“This is not a big sum of money but some BGN 5 to 6 million. I am certain this money will be given one way or another but not through conducting a policy but [through] the buffer of BGN 2 billion, which is not serious for a European country that has respect for itself,” the ABV deputy chair added.
