PM: Bulgarian Efforts in Dealing with Refugee Crisis Do Not Go Unnoticed
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said that the efforts invested by the country in dealing with the refugee crisis have not gone unnoticed.
Borisov reminded the two-day visit of British Prime Minister David Cameron to Bulgaria last week when the two heads of government inspected the guarding of the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
According to Borisov, the words of Cameron, who was greatly impressed by the Bulgarian efforts at guarding the border, will be heard at the forthcoming meeting of the European Council in December.
The Bulgarian prime minister said this at a national discussion entitled “Yes! To Bulgarian economy. European Bulgaria – stability and growth” held in Sofia on Monday.
He reminded that Bulgaria had the second best EU funds absorption rate, which showed the good administrative capacity of municipalities, the government and people dealing with EU funds.
Borisov noted that despite the difficulties in adopting the government budget for next year, it meets the criteria set out in areas such as education, security, NATO commitments and social payments.
According to him, if everything went according to plans, the budget deficit for next year will be 1.5 %.
The Bulgarian prime minister pointed that a lot of efforts have been made in countering contraband.
He assured that more revenues will be collected next year and shared his feeling that Russian tourists will return to Bulgaria in 2016.
